Our Story
The search for a daycare and preschool that develops your child’s emotional, intellectual, social, and creative needs can be overwhelming. Despite having multiple degrees in education and teaching in the RI school system for many years, I also felt stressed and overwhelmed when it came time to choose a daycare & preschool for my child. When we began exploring child care for our daughter, it was important to find a learning environment that picked up where we left off at home. We wanted a place that encouraged home-to-school connections, had structure, and made learning fun! Like every other parent, I wanted a clean and modern daycare reflecting current research and practice in early childhood education, with a balance of curiosity-driven curriculum, and the important development of empathy and resiliency. The need for this type of school for our daughters and every other young child became the inspiration for The Giving Tree Academy.

A child’s sense of character thrives by encouraging compassion, appreciation, friendships, self-regulation, and resiliency.
Developing intellectual skills such as reasoning, analyzing, predicting, questioning, and creativity is fundamental in preparing children for elementary school and beyond.
A child’s social-emotional strengths are some of the greatest predictors of successful personal and academic development.
